How not to use Twitter…(a name and shame)

@IsabelTrent, someone who describes themselves as “a marketing wiz – secretly dominating the web since 89”, claimed to be re-tweeting my messages, but replaced the real urls with links to their spam. Very unimpressed. This kind of misuse damages my reputation as well as their own.

Presumably they are phishing Twitter Search for phrases like ‘useful tips in this link’. Stay vigilant – it’s easier to spot if someone retweets you the old fashioned way – i.e. copy and pastes your message so it shows in your @replies.

If the link looks unfamiliar (perhaps a url shortnener that you don’t use) try and verify it. Watch out tweeters.
