Building your Tweeps up

via flickr.com

I was jotting down some tips for a pal at another charity on how to start building a community on Twitter, and just thought I may as well as share them here at the same time.

I know there is a load out there on this subject – but these are just three quick & simple things I do to get into the conversation.

What do you do? Are there little techniques that you use?

I tend to search for terms (e.g. disabled / disability – http://bit.ly/4nRz5h) and start to follow them (and if I have time – drop a ‘hello’ tweet).

I’ve also started to make ‘lists’ to that I can keep up with them, and retweet key messages: http://twitter.com/#/list/WhizzKidz/disability-interest

You could also search for conversations, and join in: http://twitter.com/#search?q=%23parents

Start to make friends and community-build.
